Fresh from hit concerts in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Seoul, Korea, the multi-awarded singer, composer, and producer is ready to take on Manila for the first time. 31-year-old Usher Raymond IV (known simply as “Usher”) chatted with the media on his thoughts about the Philippines, his music, and what to expect in his concert.
“Mabuhay!” Usher exclaimed when he arrived at the media gathering. “To be lei-ed here is incredible,” he joked, referring to the string of flowers around his neck (of course). He talked about plane delays and posed for photos, and eventually settled down to discuss what Pinoy fans want to hear about the multi-talented singer, composer, and producer.
On Filipino culture
“I hope to learn more about Filipino culture while I’m here,” Usher admitted. “I know about Manny Pacquiao and how he beats people up. But the last time I heard of a major event here was the ‘Thrilla in Manila’ and I hope that tomorrow’s event will be something like that, with my music.”
